NOTICE OF POSSIBLE TEACHER STRIKE
You may have seen in the news that there is a possible Teachers' Strike next Wednesday 31 May. Teachers are expecting a new and improved offer from the government, but if this does not happen then school will be CLOSED next Wednesday. This is not ideal, but neither is the lack of movement in making teaching an attractive and viable profession. If you are frustrated by this news (and you would be right to be), I would love it if you would email 1) your local MP; and 2) the Minister of Education, Jan Tinetti (who is a former primary school principal and should 'get it') and tell them that you are cross about it and can they please sort it out! This absolutely relates to my message above about not having enough relievers - we desperately need more people going into teaching, and the pay and conditions are a huge part of that.
Email the Minister on: j.tinetti@ministers.govt.nz or local MP: ian.mckelvie@national.org.nz

I will let you know as soon as we know whether this will go ahead or not.
